Just for Fun series. These brightly colored popping playful works are approximately 4” x 4” x 2” two-sided wrap-around encaustic painted wood panels. They are two paintings in one! They can be placed on a shelf, desk or coffee table. If placed on a coffee table, both sides of the painting can be viewed. If placed on a shelf or desk, they can be rotated to reveal a new painting.
These new works will be available at the Clawson Fest on Saturday 08/26/23 from 2:00-8:00pm.
These abstract works are an aesthetic response to both inner and outer nature through visual layers of perception.

2013 Encaustic on wood panel, detail of Ice studies 6" x 6"
2013 Ice series is a collection of small studies and larger compositions that are a result of an investigation informed by nature. Emulating the crystalline characteristics and other formal visual qualities of ice through encaustic inherently provides a surrogate, which is then transcended through abstraction, altered and reduced to an intrinsic essence. Wood panels, 6" x 6" and 14" x 14".

Primal Repression
Visual tension between the aesthetics of both horror and delight facilitate an environment filled with invented biomorphic organisms signaling body to the viewer, evoking an affect of the abject; disturbing identity, system, and order. The resulting reorientation of the distinction between self and the other fosters a parallel status affording empathy for both.

This collection contains a sampling of my web site images, product design and graphic work, most of which is created in Adobe Creative Suite. I have produced bookwork with InDesign and created graphic works in Adobe Illustrator. I use Photoshop for adjusting and formatting images within my projects. I have also used Brackets to create code for web stories and websites.
This is screenshot of a website that I coded in the Brackets text editor. The website was created to lead the viewer through the process of working with encaustic medium.

Perhaps nothing has evolved more in recent years as the modes of communication. With rapid change comes confusion and fear, anger and manipulation. Social media and the smart phone are both loved and loathed by their users for good reason, and the way we engage in dialogue with each other has forever changed.
“Anonymous” is both a sculpture and a social experiment. Created by Hamtramck artists Nina Caruso and Christopher Schneider, these 480 feet of steel pipes act as a communication device. Groups of people are encouraged to talk and listen into the ends. Due to the multitude of bends, it will not be clear who is on the other end.
What will you say when you are not sure who is listening?
Anonymous can be custom built to be site specific for indoor or outside spaces.
